How To Use CBD

With so many CBD products for sale, understanding how to use CBD can be confusing. Different methods of consuming CBD can have different effects, and it’s best to do a bit of research so you know which method is right for you. This will ensure that you buy the best CBD products for your individual needs.

You can take CBD oil orally, straight out of the bottle. If you ingest it by placing it onto your tongue and swallowing, it will have to go through the digestive system before reaching the bloodstream. The same is true if you mix it with food and beverages. Digesting CBD can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Once it has been digested, it enters the bloodstream, and its effects begin. The effects of ingested CBD can last between two and six hours.

You can also use CBD oil sublingually, or under the tongue. This means you use the bottle dropper to place the CBD under the tongue, holding it there for 60 to 90 seconds. Sublingual CBD consumption provides faster effects because the CBD goes directly into the bloodstream. The onset is within 20 to 40 minutes, and the effects tend to last for hours, though likely not as long as if consumed through ingestion.

You can also buy CBD as edibles and capsules. CBD edibles include gummies, lozenges and chocolates, which have a specific dose premeasured into each piece. That way, you will know the exact amount of CBD you are getting. The lowest dosage per piece is usually 5 mg. From there, it goes up to 10 mg, 20 mg and sometimes even more. CBD can come in capsule form as well. The dosage per capsule tends to be in the same range as edibles. Both CBD edibles and capsules go through digestion before the CBD enters the bloodstream, at which point its effects begin.

CBD topicals are another way of consuming CBD. Usually, topicals come in the form of lotions, balms, salves and creams. You can target a specific area by rubbing the CBD topical product onto the skin. The skin absorbs it directly, so the CBD never enters the bloodstream.  Penguin's CBD cream is a great example, which is designed for quick absorption, contains a high potency of 250 mg, and is rich in terpenes. Its luxurious peppermint-lavender scent adds to its appeal. As with our other CBD products, our partners strive to create the finest CBD topicals on the market.

Lastly, some choose to inhale CBD through a vaporizing (“vape”) pen. CBD in varying concentrations is sold in cartridges specifically designed for vape pens. Another option is to purchase a disposable CBD vape pen. Vaping is a controversial CBD consumption method because of the inherent risks of inhaling any substance. The specific repercussions of vaping CBD require more studies to understand the repercussions fully. We do not sell CBD vaping products of any kind.
